Transaction types let you trigger specific General Ledger (GL) accounts that override the default category assigned to a part record or labour code record. This article is Step 8 of the Understanding Accounting Integration series — for the full series, see Accounting Integration Setup: All Steps.

Blackpurl includes a base set of transaction types, each defaulting to the parts and labour categories attached to the relevant part record or labour code record. Your dealership can customise these defaults to suit your accounting needs, and can also add additional transaction types for services or parts as required.

Transaction types can be selected in two places on a customer order: the Service Job section and the Parts & Accessories section.

When setting up a service job, you choose a transaction type as part of answering "Who is paying for the job?" Different transaction types direct the revenue to different GL accounts based on who is responsible for payment.

In the Parts & Accessories section, the current transaction type is displayed in the section header. To change it, click Change type, select the transaction type you need, then save your changes.
