Blackpurl Release Notes — Feature Updates and Bug Fixes

A summary of new features, improvements, and bug fixes released in this Blackpurl update.

What's New

Feature Releases

When Blackpurl releases a new feature or update, all licensed users are notified with a pop-up when they log in. The pop-up includes links to further information for each release. Feature releases are now deployed faster — rollouts that previously took a couple of days now complete within a few hours.

Unit Tax Invoices for Australia and New Zealand

For Australian and New Zealand dealerships using tax-included pricing, Blackpurl now provides a way to override the total when receiving and invoicing units. This makes it easier to match the entry to the Vendor Unit Invoice.

This image shows a 'Unit receiving' screen in Blackpurl. At the top, it displays 'Unit received from: Smith & Co'. Below

BRP Integration

A new BRP API has been implemented that automatically submits dealer and DMS information to BRP.

New User Permissions: Homepage Dashboard, Reports, and Workshop Dashboard

Three new User Permissions have been introduced to control access to key areas of Blackpurl.

Homepage Dashboard

When the Homepage Dashboard permission is enabled, users can see the Homepage dashboard. When it is disabled, users see the dealership logo instead of the dashboard. For further information, see Blackpurl Homepage User Permission.

Reports

When the Reports permission is enabled, users can access Reporting. When it is disabled, the Reporting option is greyed out. For further information, see User Permission — Reports.

Workshop Dashboard

When the Workshop Dashboard permission is enabled, users can access the Workshop dashboard. When it is disabled, the Workshop dashboard is greyed out. For further information, see User Permission – Workshop Dashboard.

What's Improved

The following issues have been resolved and improvements made in this release.

  • Resolved — an issue on the Product Location screen when the org contained a very large number of locations.

  • Resolved — a user interface issue in the job clocking application on mobile devices where users were unable to action the play/stop button.

  • Resolved — a scrolling issue when viewing a newly created service job.

  • Resolved — a minor display issue on the product locations screen.

  • Resolved — a minor capitalisation issue in the payroll time clocking screen.

  • Resolved — a persistent FTP issue for a specific dealership.

  • Resolved — an issue where Sunday appointments were not appearing in the week view of the scheduler.

  • Resolved — an issue that caused only some unit invoices to sync to QuickBooks or Xero when a large number of units were received in bulk receiving.

  • Resolved — an issue that caused financing products to not appear on the invoice for a unit deal.

  • Resolved — a "Xero is not responding" error when generating the Fusion Benchmarking report.

  • Released — mapped forms for specific dealerships. Affected dealerships have been notified.

  • Resolved — an issue when importing a picklist to a Vendor Order (VO) that contained more than 100 records.

  • Resolved — an issue where the first two generic unit data fields were not listed in the column selector for the Stock Unit report.

  • Resolved — an issue that prevented units from being received when tax-included pricing is enabled.

  • Resolved — an issue with clocking entry posting to accounting that occasionally caused the org to become disconnected from QuickBooks.

  • Changed — in the accounting integration setup categories for QuickBooks, General Ledger (GL) account numbers are now shown instead of the QuickBooks unique ID for the GL account. If no GL account number is assigned, the unique ID is shown prefixed with "ID" (for example: ID123).

  • Resolved — an issue when reporting payments from a Customer Order (CO) where the customer had been changed after payments had already been added to the CO.

  • Resolved — a user interface issue in the print part label modal where it would not display more than one digit for the quantity of labels to print.

  • Changed — when a user manually creates a job clocking entry while an active job clocking entry already exists for that technician, the user is now prevented from manually adding an entry on the same day as an active clocking entry for that technician.

  • Implemented — additional restrictions on CO checkout to prevent finalising checkout when the total of charge-on-account payments exceeds the invoice total.

  • Resolved — an issue that prevented users from removing an unassigned appointment from the scheduler.

  • Removed — the restriction on the Gift Card undeposited funds GL account so that the same GL can now be assigned to a category.

  • Resolved — a user interface issue encountered when creating tax rates on an iMac running macOS Monterey with Safari.

  • Resolved — an issue with the BRP inventory submission for new customers where no inventory data had a record of sales activity.

  • Resolved — an issue with stock count importing when the import file contained blank part numbers.

  • Resolved — an issue with Search to Add in Vendor Receiving (VR) where pausing while entering search text and then continuing to type would display old results. Previous searches are now cancelled so that only current results are displayed.

  • Resolved — an issue when creating technicians where the technician's default work hours were set to Mon–Fri instead of reflecting the days defined in Shop Hours.
