Overview
Blackpurl includes Stamp Duty configuration under System Settings > Settings & Controls for Australian dealerships. This feature lets you set up the Stamp Duty rates that apply to your state and automatically applies them to Unit Deals when processing a Customer Order.
Setting Up Stamp Duty Rates
Before Stamp Duty can be applied to Unit Deals, you need to configure which rates are active at your dealership and which rate is set as the default.
Accessing the Stamp Duty Settings
1. From the Blackpurl header, click your initials in the top right corner, then select Settings.
2. From the System Settings dashboard, select Settings & Controls.
3. All sections in Settings & Controls open in a minimized state. Click Stamp Duty to expand that section.
4. The Stamp Duty section lists all applicable Australian Stamp Duty rates by state. Review each rate and set which ones are active at your dealership and which is your default.
Stamp Duty Table Fields
Each row in the Stamp Duty table contains the following columns.
Name | The name of the Stamp Duty rate, using the convention of state followed by the rate name — for example, NT - All dutiable units. |
Calc Method | How the Stamp Duty is calculated — for example, Single rate, Tiered, or Escalating rate. |
Rates | The current rate for each listed Stamp Duty entry. |
Per | The basis for the rate calculation, expressed as a per-dollar value. |
Minimum | The minimum Stamp Duty amount, if one applies. |
Maximum | The maximum Stamp Duty amount, if one applies. |
Default | Indicates which Stamp Duty rate is the default. Only one rate can be set as default at a time, shown by a toggle. |
Active | Indicates which Stamp Duty rates are enabled and available in your Blackpurl. |
Managing Stamp Duty Rates
Use the action icons on each Stamp Duty rate row to edit or delete an existing rate. Take care when editing or deleting rates — changes affect how Stamp Duty is calculated on Unit Deals.
To add a new Stamp Duty rate, click Add Stamp Duty Rates and complete the pop-up form.
To apply the default Stamp Duty rate to all stocked units, click Apply default to stock units. A confirmation message appears when this is complete. Each stocked unit will then carry the default Stamp Duty rate.
Once your Stamp Duty rates are configured, the setup is complete and rates will be applied automatically to Unit Deals.
How Stamp Duty Appears on a Unit Deal
When processing a Customer Order Unit Deal, Stamp Duty is automatically calculated under the Pricing section based on your configured settings. The following fields appear in that section.
Deal Value | The value of the Unit Deal for this unit. |
Dutiable Value | Applies in states where Stamp Duty must be charged on the full retail price or recommended retail price of the unit, rather than the lesser deal value. This field only appears when relevant. |
Calculator | Shows which Stamp Duty rate was used for the calculation. If the wrong rate has been applied, use the dropdown to select the correct rate — the default rate from your settings is selected automatically. |
Amount Charged | The calculated Stamp Duty dollar value. You can override this amount manually if required. |
