This article explains how to add a new customer record to Blackpurl and how to edit an existing customer record when details such as an address or phone number need to be updated.
Add a New Customer Record
There are two ways to create a new customer record in Blackpurl.
Option 1: From the Administration Workspace
Navigate to the Blackpurl header and select Admin, then Customers, then click Add Customer.
Option 2: From the Sell Workspace
When adding a customer to a Customer Order in the Sell workspace, type the customer's name in the customer search field. If the customer does not appear in the results, click Create new customer.
Complete the Create New Customer Form
Both options open the same Create New Customer window. Keep the following in mind as you fill in the form:
If the details you enter match an existing record, Blackpurl displays a We found similar customers in the system notice with a list of matching customers — review these before continuing to avoid creating a duplicate.
You can create either an Individual or a Business customer — use the two tabs at the top of the form to switch between these types.
Additional information fields are available and can be selected if required. Any additional information fields you complete will appear in the top half of the Customer Record once saved.
Save the New Customer Record
Once you have completed the form, you have two options for saving:
CREATE & ADD A CUSTOMER UNIT — Creates the customer record and immediately opens the Add a New Customer Owned Unit window so you can attach a unit to this customer.
CREATE — Creates the customer record only. The Customer Record then loads for you to review.
Edit a Customer Record
If a customer's details change — such as a new address or phone number — you can update their record at any time.
1. Navigate to the relevant Customer Record.
2. Click EDIT.
3. Make your changes in the edit window.
4. Click SAVE to apply the changes.
