Import a Picklist into Blackpurl

Learn how to import a picklist file into a Vendor Order or Customer Order in Blackpurl, including supported formats and PartSmart prerequisites.

Blackpurl allows you to import a picklist file directly into a Vendor Order or a Customer Order (Parts & Accessories or Service Job). This saves time when ordering parts by pulling quantities and part numbers from an external parts lookup tool.

Import Options

There are two places in Blackpurl where you can import a picklist file:

  • Directly into a Vendor Order

  • Into a Customer Order — in either the Parts & Accessories or Service Job sections

Option 1: Import into a Vendor Order

Use this option when you want to populate a Vendor Order with parts from a picklist file.

  1. In Blackpurl, create or open a Vendor Order.

  2. In the B Order section, click Import Order.

  3. The Import Order modal will appear.

  4. Click the format selector and choose a format from the options available. Depending on which picklists have been set up in your Blackpurl, your options may include:

  5. Search for the relevant file, then click Open to select it.

  6. The file will import and any parts that exist in Blackpurl will be listed on the Vendor Order. For any part on the picklist that does not exist in Blackpurl, the Part Not Found window will appear — you will need to add or create those parts manually.

  7. Proceed and finalize the Vendor Order as normal.

Option 2: Import into a Customer Order (Parts & Accessories or Service Job)

Use this option when you want to populate a Customer Order's Parts & Accessories section or Service Job with parts from a picklist file.

  1. In Blackpurl, create or open a Customer Order for Parts & Accessories or Service Job.

  2. Click Import Pick List.

  3. The Import Pick List modal will appear. Click the format selector to see your options. Depending on what has been set up in your Blackpurl, your options may include:

    • ARI PartSmart 8 — see the Prerequisite for PartSmart Picklists section below

    • ARI PartSmart 10 — see the Prerequisite for PartSmart Picklists section below

    • Snap-On EPC — a CSV file containing 8 columns with the following headers:

      • OEM

      • Model

      • Part Number

      • Qty

      • Description

      • Comment

      • Dealer

      • Retail

    • Generic — always available; the file must be in CSV format with the column headers: Part# and Quantity

    • HLSM CSV — select this format when your picklist was generated from HLSM online microfiche

  4. Search for the relevant file, then click Open to select it.

  5. The file will import and any parts that exist in Blackpurl will be listed on the Customer Order. For any part on the picklist that does not exist in Blackpurl, the Part Not Found window will appear — you will need to add or create those parts manually.

  6. Proceed and finalize the Customer Order as normal. If the listed parts are not in stock, Blackpurl will automatically create a Special Order section.

Prerequisite for PartSmart Picklists

Before you can import a PartSmart picklist file into Blackpurl, Blackpurl must be configured in the background to recognize the version of PartSmart you are using. This setup is handled by the Blackpurl Support Team.

To set up the PartSmart integration, contact the Blackpurl Support Team and provide:

  • A copy of a PartSmart picklist file (used for testing purposes only)

  • Which Vendor in Blackpurl that PartSmart should be mapped to

  • Which version of PartSmart you are using — PartSmart 8 (desktop application) or ARI PartSmart 10 (web-based version)

Once the Blackpurl Support Team confirms the setup is complete, the PartSmart option will appear in the Import Pick List and Import Order modals and you will be able to import PartSmart picklist files directly into Blackpurl.
