Unit Cost and Part Cost User Permissions

Control which users can view or edit unit costs and part costs in Blackpurl using Permission Group settings.

Blackpurl includes user permissions that control visibility and editing access for Unit Costs and Parts Costs. These permissions are managed at the Permission Group level, so you can tailor cost access for each group of users — for example, preventing technicians from seeing costs while allowing service managers to view and edit them.

Costs Permission Settings

To review or update cost permissions, navigate to the relevant Permission Group and open General Permissions > Costs. By default, a Permission Group may have no access to costs at all.

If users in the Permission Group need access to costs, enable the Costs toggle. Once enabled, additional options appear so you can define exactly what that group can do and which cost types they can access.

The available options are:

  • Read only — Users in this Permission Group can view costs but cannot make any changes.

  • Modify — Users in this Permission Group can edit cost values. Enable this toggle if you want the group to be able to change costs.

  • Part Costs — Controls whether this Permission Group has access to parts costs. Leave enabled to grant access.

  • Unit Costs — Controls whether this Permission Group has access to unit costs. Leave enabled to grant access.
