Blackpurl Release Notes — New Features and Improvements

A summary of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes included in this Blackpurl release.

What's New

Part Cost Control

Part Cost Control is a new feature that gives you greater control over how part costs are recorded and flagged during receiving and invoicing. The following capabilities have been added:

  • Control when the last cost on a part gets updated, so the part record retains the normal purchase cost from the vendor.

  • A warning system that alerts you when the cost you enter differs significantly from the current cost on the part, helping you catch potential data entry mistakes.

  • Ability to enter discounted costs in Vendor Receiving (VR), the same way you can in Vendor Invoicing (VI), making it easier to reconcile your VR against an actual vendor invoice.

  • Ability to go directly from Vendor Receiving to Vendor Invoicing when receiving from an actual invoice. See Completing the Vendor Receiving and Vendor Invoicing together (no longer available) for details.

For full details on this feature, see Part Cost Control Explained.

DP360

Units shown in DP360 will now be automatically updated to inactive when the unit has been invoiced out on a Customer Order Unit Deal in Blackpurl. If you would like sold units removed from your DP360, please contact us directly.

Fulfilling Special Order Requirements from Vendor Receiving

When a Customer Order Special Order requirement is fulfilled directly from a Vendor Receiving, an internal comment is now automatically generated in the Customer Order Internal Comments section. The comment records the details of the fulfillment so you have a clear audit trail on the Customer Order.

Updated Tax Detail Report

The Tax Detail Report has been significantly updated to better support dealerships with a large number of defined tax rates. The changes include:

  • When you open the Tax Detail Report, it now automatically displays the parameter and filter section first, prompting you to define the date range and report criteria before results load.

  • All transactions that include taxes are now covered by this report, including Unit Invoices, Vendor Returns, and Unit Cost Adjustments for both vendor-specific and customer-specific scenarios.

  • You can now select which Tax Type to include on the report: Selling, Purchasing, or All.

  • Within Selling or Purchasing, you can select which specific tax rates to include. The report only lists tax rates that were actually used within the selected date range, so you would only need to adjust this filter if you want to focus on one or a few specific rates.

Shows two side-by-side sections: 'Selling taxes to include:' on the left and 'Purchasing taxes to include:' on the right
  • Non-taxable transactions and non-taxable line items on transactions are now included in the report results.

  • The date filter still defaults to the last fully completed month, but you can now select a date range of up to three months to support quarterly reporting.

  • The report has been reformatted so that taxes appear as line items rather than columns. If a transaction has three different taxes applied, those taxes appear as three separate line items. Only tax rates used within the selected date range are listed.

The sidebar now shows totals only for the tax rates that appear in the report results. This means that even if your system has a large number of defined tax rates, the sidebar stays focused on the rates relevant to the reporting period, giving you quick access to taxable and tax amounts for each rate used.

Shows a sidebar titled 'Totals To Include:' with various tax calculations. Each line shows a tax type on the left and co

When you export or preview the report as a CSV or PDF, the records are automatically grouped by tax rate.

Tax Invoices for Service Jobs

The Plate# field from the Unit Record is now included on Tax Invoices for Service Jobs.

New User Permissions

New User Permissions have been added based on dealership feedback. The new permissions allow you to:

  • Restrict the ability to view the Customer Order Profitability tool.

  • Restrict the ability to view or modify commissions on Customer Order Unit Deals.

  • Restrict the ability to adjust store credits on customer records.

  • Restrict the ability to set a Customer Order Unit Deal to approved.

  • Apply more granular controls to System Settings sections, defining who can see which settings.

The permissions listing has also been reorganized to better align with permission groupings. For further information, see User Permissions in Blackpurl Reference.

Deal Unit Tax Control Option

Previously, only parts, labor, and sublet deal unit options were taxed based on the Applicable Tax indicated on the Unit Deal. A new optional toggle now lets you specify that all deal unit options — including fees that previously controlled their own tax rates — should be taxed based on the Applicable Tax selected for the unit.

Preferred Payments

The timeout modal window for Preferred Payments has been updated with clearer messaging. When a payment times out, the modal now explicitly states that Blackpurl will not record the payment and that you must cancel the transaction on the terminal.
