This article covers Step 4P of the Understanding Accounting Integration series: configuring the General Ledger (GL) control account for Payment Method Surcharges. If a customer payment triggers a surcharge in Blackpurl, this setting determines where that surcharge income posts in your accounting package.

Payment Method Surcharges Control Account
The Payment Method Surcharges control account tells Blackpurl which General Ledger account to post surcharge income to when a customer order is finalised.
Blackpurl can be configured to automatically apply a surcharge when a customer pays using a specific payment method — Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discovery, or Preferred Payments. The surcharge appears at checkout on the customer order, and when the order is finalised, the surcharge income integrates to the General Ledger account specified in this field.
Two requirements apply to this control account:
The dealership must intend to charge a surcharge based on the payment method used on a customer order.
The General Ledger account assigned here must be an income or revenue account — not a liability or expense account.
For instructions on enabling and configuring payment method surcharges in Blackpurl, see Payment Method Surcharge.
