This article explains how to create a unit deal quote for a temporary unit — a unit the dealership does not have in stock or on order. Use this process when a customer wants a price on a unit before committing to a purchase.
Scenario
An existing customer is looking for a quote on a unit the dealership doesn't currently have in stock. The customer also wants to include proposed options and a trade-in on the quote. At this stage, the customer is not committing to anything — they are only after a price.
Steps
1. From the Blackpurl header, click Sell to open the Sell workspace.
2. Click the expand arrow to open the Select Customer section.
3. In the Select an existing customer field, type a search keyword such as surname, first name, mobile number, or email address. The system lists matching results as you type. Click the correct customer to select them.
If the customer does not exist yet, click Create new customer and complete the Create New Customer fields.
4. After selecting the customer, choose the type of Customer Order. For a unit quote, select SELL A UNIT. A new Unit Deal section is automatically added to the Customer Order.
5. Add the temporary unit to the deal. Click Or set a temporary unit, then complete the relevant fields on the Create Temporary Unit screen for the unit your customer wants a quote on. Once you save the details, the system populates the Temporary Unit Details in the Unit Deal.
If you need to change the temporary unit details later — such as the price or factory options — click Edit pricing to reopen the Temporary Unit Details for editing.
6. Add any proposed options and fees being quoted with the unit. Click in the Scan and search to add items field and search for each part, fee, or labour item.
For example, if the customer wants a different muffler fitted at the time of purchase, search for the relevant muffler and ensure the Install toggle is green.
The system will show the stock availability of any part added at the time of creating the quote, but will not commit that stock to the quotation.
Repeat this step for each part, fee, or labour item until all quoted items appear in the Options & Fees section.
7. If the customer wants a quote for an additional unit, click Add another unit in the Deal actions section. A Unit 2 section is added to the deal. Return to Step 5 to complete the details for the second unit.
8. If the customer wants to include a trade-in, click Add trade in in the Deal actions section. The system lists any Customer Owned Units recorded on the customer's record. Select the relevant unit or add a new Customer Owned Unit, then click SELECT.
Complete the Trade In section, including the agreed value. If the customer has more than one trade-in, repeat this step for each additional unit.
9. Review the Checkout section to see the deal status (QUOTE) and the calculated total across all units, parts, labour, fees, and trade-ins. Click PRINT to print an Offer to Purchase document if the customer wants a copy of the quote.
What Happens Next
At this stage the deal is a quote only — there is no commitment to buy and the unit is still a temporary unit. No stock is reserved or committed.
