Price Levels in Blackpurl control the part pricing and labour rates applied to a customer's orders. You can create custom Price Levels for staff, warranty providers, insurance claims, or any other group that requires different pricing. This article covers how to create a new Price Level, edit or delete an existing one, and change the Price Level assigned to a Customer Record.
For background on why Price Levels are useful, see Price Levels Explained
Create a New Price Level
To create a new Price Level, navigate to System Settings and open the Price Levels section.
1. From the Blackpurl header, click your Profile icon, then select Settings. If you cannot access System Settings, speak with your Manager about your User Permissions.
2. From the System Settings Dashboard, click Settings & Controls.
3. From Settings & Controls, open the Price Levels section.
4. Click ADD A NEW PRICE LEVEL at the bottom of the Price Levels list. A new row will appear for you to enter the details.
Fill in the following fields for the new Price Level, then click ADD to confirm the row, and SAVE to save all changes.
Name | Enter a meaningful name for the Price Level — avoid generic or random labels. |
Description | Enter a description that explains the purpose of this Price Level, for example "Insurance Claims" or "Employee Pricing". |
Part price is based on | Use the dropdown to select the base price the level will use: Price, Cost, Average Cost, or MSRP, as recorded on the Part Record. |
Rate Applied | Enter a positive or negative percentage to apply to the base price. For example, enter -10 to charge 10% less than the selected base price. |
Labour rate | Enter the labour rate associated with this Price Level. |
Once saved, the new Price Level will appear in the list alongside existing Price Levels.
Example
To create an Employee Price Level where parts are charged at Cost + 5% and labour is charged at $95 per hour, set Part price is based on to Cost, set Rate Applied to +5, and set the Labour rate to 95. Leave the default flag inactive if this should not be the default pricing for new customers.
Edit an Existing Price Level
To edit an existing Price Level, click on the relevant Price Level row in the Price Levels section of Settings & Controls. The row will open for editing. Make your changes, then click SAVE to apply them.
Delete an Existing Price Level
To delete an existing Price Level, click the delete icon on the relevant Price Level row. Blackpurl will ask you to confirm the deletion before proceeding. Note that the system will not allow you to delete a Price Level that is currently assigned to a Customer Record — you must reassign those customers to a different Price Level first.
Change the Price Level on a Customer Record
To assign a different Price Level to a customer, navigate to their Customer Record and follow these steps.
1. Open the relevant Customer Record and review the current Price Level shown on the record.
2. Click EDIT to open the customer edit form.
3. Scroll down to the Price Level field and click into it. A list of available Price Levels will appear.
4. Select the new Price Level, then click SAVE.
The Customer Record will now show the updated Price Level.
Going forward, any new Customer Order for Parts & Accessories or a Service Job created for this customer will automatically use the new Price Level.
For any Customer Orders that are already open in the system, click Recalculate all Pricing on the order to apply the new Price Level to those existing orders.
