Vendor Part Pricing lets you automatically calculate the retail price for all parts supplied by a specific vendor. This article explains how the feature works and walks through the steps to configure it.
What is Vendor Part Pricing
Vendor Part Pricing allows the dealership to automatically set the retail price for all parts supplied by a particular vendor. When Vendor Part Pricing is configured, any change made to the cost or MSRP for a part triggers the automatic pricing calculation to produce a new retail price.
This means that whenever part records are updated — whether by a price file upload, a vendor receiving or invoicing cost update, or a manual edit — the Vendor Part Pricing setting will always apply your desired markup or margin automatically.
How to Set Up Vendor Part Pricing
1. Navigate to the relevant vendor record and click Edit.
2. On the Edit Vendor screen, scroll to the Part Pricing > Vendor Controls Part Retail Price section. Use the toggle to switch the Part Pricing feature on or off for that vendor.
3. Move the toggle to the On position, then configure the pricing controls you want to apply.
For example, to configure Part Pricing for vendor Smith and Co with the following rules:
Retail price based on MSRP
Markup of 5% from $0 to $2,000
Markup of 7% from $2,000.01 to unlimited
Price rounded to the next 5 cents
Set each of these values in the Part Pricing configuration section of the Edit Vendor screen.
Tip: You can add up to 11 markup tiers to a vendor's controlled pricing.
Once you are happy with the Part Pricing setup, click Save.
After saving, the retail price for all parts associated with the vendor will automatically update to reflect the new Part Pricing configuration. Going forward, any new price file uploaded for the vendor will also trigger automatic retail price updates based on these settings.
Keep in mind that if you upload a new price file, the retail prices for all affected parts may not update immediately — it can take some time to process, particularly if a large number of parts are linked to that vendor.
