Blackpurl lets you record customer approval on a Service Job in three ways: verbally, by printing the Service Worksheet for a manual signature, or by capturing a digital signature directly on screen. This article walks you through each method and covers what to do if a customer declines the work.
How to Get Customer Approval on a Service Job
Follow these steps to record customer approval on a Service Job using any of the three available methods.
1. Navigate to the Service Job that requires customer approval.
2. In the Job Actions section, click Customer Approval.
3. The Service Worksheet opens in a new browser tab.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the Service Worksheet page to find the Customer Approval section.
5. Click the approval method dropdown to list the available approval types, then select one of the three methods described below.
Approval Methods
The Customer Approval section offers three methods. After completing the selected method, click Save to record it in Blackpurl.
Verbal
Select Verbal when the customer gives approval by word of mouth. Blackpurl records the date, time, and approval method as "Verbal" in the Customer Approval section of the Service Job.
Select Print to load the Service Worksheet ready for printing. Once printed, have the customer manually sign the approval on the physical document.
Blackpurl records the date, time, and approval method as "Print" in the Customer Approval section of the Service Job.
Your dealership must retain the signed Service Worksheet for your records.
Sign
Select Sign to open a digital signing area where the customer can sign directly on a tablet, smartphone, or using a mouse. Once you save the signed approval, Blackpurl records the date, time, and approval method as "Sign" in the Customer Approval section of the Service Job.
Browser Pop-Up Blocker
The Service Worksheet and signing screens open as pop-up windows. If these screens do not appear, check that your browser's pop-up blocker is turned off. iPads and Macs may also have pop-up blockers active — check your browser or device settings if pop-ups are being suppressed.
When a Customer Declines the Work
If a customer declines to have work carried out, record it in the Concern section of the Service Job and mark it as declined. This creates a record that the work was recommended but the customer chose not to proceed.
After recording the declined work, take one of the following actions depending on the state of the Service Job:
Delete the relevant line items if no work has been performed.
Close out the Service Job if it is complete.
Convert the Service Job to a quote if the customer wants to revisit the work later.
