Tags in Blackpurl

Use tags to group and filter part records, unit records, and labour codes in reports.

Tags in Blackpurl let you label part records, unit records, and labour codes with custom keywords so you can filter and group them in reports. This article explains what tags are, how to set them up, how to assign them to records, and how to use them as report filters.

What Are Tags

A tag is a custom label you can apply to one or more part records, unit records, or labour codes. Tags give you a flexible way to group items that share a characteristic — even when that characteristic isn't visible in the item's name or description.

For example, suppose you want to report on all brake pad parts. If the word "brake pad" doesn't appear in every part's description, a standard search will miss some of them. By creating a tag called Brake Pads and applying it to every relevant part record, you can use that tag as a filter in any parts report to get a complete and accurate list — regardless of how each part is named.
