Part Movement Report

Track changes in part inventory levels over a selected date range using the Part Movement Report in Blackpurl.

The Part Movement Report lets you report on changes in part inventory levels for a specific month or custom date range. Use it to see opening and closing stock quantities, purchases, sales, and adjustments for any period.

How to Run the Part Movement Report

Navigate to the Part Movement Report by following these steps:

1. In the Blackpurl header, click Reporting, then select Reports.

The Part Movement Report is the only report in Blackpurl that does not generate with default settings. Instead, a parameter selection panel opens automatically so you can choose the date range and other options before the report runs.

Setting Report Parameters

When the parameter selection panel opens, configure the fields you need — Custom Dates, Include Parts Without Activity?, and any Other Fields — then click Run Report to generate the results.

Default Report Columns

The Part Movement Report includes the following columns by default for the date range you enter:

Part Number

The part's identifier.

Description

The part's description.

Opening Value

The dollar value of stock at the start of the date range.

Opening Qty

How many units were in stock at the start of the date range (opening stock on hand).

Purchased Qty

The quantity purchased during the date range.

Sales Qty

How many units were sold during the date range.

Adjusted Qty

Any parts adjusted in or out during the date range via stock adjustments.

Closing Qty

How many units were in stock at the end of the date range (closing stock on hand).

Closing Value

The dollar value of stock at the end of the date range.

Total Sales

The total sales dollar value for the date range.

Customising Parameters and Columns

If the default parameters or columns don't meet your needs, both can be changed after the report has run.

  • To change the parameters, click Parameters and update the date range, part number filter, or any other relevant fields. Click Run Report to reload the results with your updated selections.

  • To change the columns displayed, click Columns and select or deselect columns as required. Click Apply to update the results.


Viewing Summary Totals

Click Summary Totals to display a totals panel at the bottom of the report. You can also customise which totals appear by selecting or deselecting them from the totals options panel.


Exporting or Printing the Report

To export or print your results, click Export / Print to open the export and print options.


Saving a Custom Report

If you've configured parameters, columns, and totals that you want to reuse, you can save the report as a custom report so it's ready next time.

1. Click Save Custom Report.

2. Choose whether to Update Existing Filter or Save As New Filter.

3. Give the report a unique name if saving as new.

4. Click Save to confirm.


Your saved report appears in the My custom and shared reports tab under the name you gave it. The next time you want to run the same report, go to the My custom and shared reports tab and select it from the list.
