Sending Emails from Blackpurl: Choose Your Email Setup

Explains the two email sending options in Blackpurl — quick setup vs. verified domain — and the deliverability/security trade-offs between them.

Blackpurl sends all outgoing emails — quotes, invoices, work orders, and other customer communications — on your dealership's behalf. You have two options for how these emails are sent. This article explains both so you can choose the setup that's right for your dealership.

Option 1: Send Emails Without Domain Verification (Quick Start)

Best for: Dealerships that want to start emailing right away with no technical setup.

With this option, there's nothing to configure. Blackpurl sends your emails immediately using a substitute "From" address provided by our platform provider (Salesforce). Your dealership's name still appears as the sender, and when customers hit Reply, their response goes to the user's email address.

What this means for your customers

An email sent this way looks like:

If you want to set up a different Reply-to email address, you must set up an org-wide email address in Option 2.

The trade-offs

  • The From address isn't yours. Customers may see an unfamiliar sfcustomeremail.com address, which can look less professional or cause hesitation before opening.

  • Higher chance of spam filtering. Emails without domain verification are more likely to land in spam or promotions folders, meaning customers may miss invoices or quotes.

  • Less protection against impersonation. Without verification, it's easier for bad actors to send fake emails that appear to come from your dealership.

Option 1 works fine, but if email is an important part of how you communicate with customers, we strongly recommend Option 2. You can always move from Option 1 to Option 2 if you find Option 1 is insufficient or problematic for your needs.

Option 2: Verify Your Email Address and Domain (Recommended)

Best for: Dealerships that use their own email domain (e.g., yourdealership.com) and want maximum deliverability and security.

This option involves two one-time setup steps. The second step requires small changes to your domain's DNS settings — your IT person or website provider can handle it in minutes.

The benefits

  • Emails come from your actual address. Customers see your dealership's real email in the From field - professional and recognizable.

  • Better deliverability. Verified emails are far less likely to be flagged as spam, so invoices, quotes, and work orders reliably reach customer inboxes.

  • Fraud and phishing protection. DKIM authentication proves emails from your domain are legitimate, protecting your dealership's reputation and your customers.

Step 1: Verify your org-wide email address

When your Blackpurl account is set up, Salesforce sends a verification email to your org-wide email address (the address Blackpurl uses for all outgoing communications).

  1. Open the verification email from Salesforce.

  2. Forward the verification email to your Blackpurl representative as soon as you receive it. They will complete the verification for you.

  3. Act quickly — the confirmation link expires 72 hours after the email is sent. If it has expired, contact Blackpurl support for a new one.

Step 2: Set up DKIM for your domain (IT work required on your end)

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) verifies that emails sent from your domain are legitimate. Setting it up requires adding two DNS records to your domain — this is where you may need your IT team or website provider.

  1. Request your DNS records — we'll provide two CNAME records specific to your domain.

  2. Add the records — you (or your IT/web provider) log in to your domain provider (GoDaddy, Google Domains, etc.), go to DNS settings, and add the two CNAME records exactly as provided.

  3. Wait for the changes to take effect — usually 10–60 minutes, occasionally up to 24 hours.

  4. Notify Blackpurl — reply to our email and we'll verify and complete the setup for you.

Don't have DNS access or not sure where to start? Forward the instructions to your IT team or website provider — they'll know what to do — or contact Blackpurl team for help.

Note: If your dealership uses a common email provider such as gmail.com, outlook.com, or yahoo.com, DKIM setup doesn't apply. You can skip this step.
