Understanding Accounting Integration – Step 1: Getting Connected

Learn how to connect your QuickBooks Online or Xero accounting package to Blackpurl by inviting Blackpurl as an accountant or adviser.

Connecting your accounting package to Blackpurl is the first step in setting up accounting integration. This article covers how to send Blackpurl the accountant invitation from your accounting package and what to expect once the connection is established.

Getting Connected

The first step in connecting your accounting package — QuickBooks Online or Xero — to Blackpurl is for your dealership to invite Blackpurl as an Accountant or Adviser within your accounting package. Once Blackpurl receives and accepts the invitation, your accounting system will be linked to your Blackpurl account.

Confirming the Connection

Once Blackpurl has accepted your invitation and linked your accounting system, you can confirm the connection is active. Navigate to System Settings > Accounting Integration. The first tab that opens is Accounting Provider, which displays the status and details of your connection.

The Accounting Provider tab includes the following information and controls:

A. Accounting Package

Indicates which accounting package is connected — Xero or QuickBooks Online.

B. Company Name

The company name as it appears in your accounting package.

C. Test Connection

Click Test Connection to verify that Blackpurl can communicate with your accounting package.

D. Sync Status

Indicates whether your accounting integration is actively syncing transactions to your accounting package. This will show as on or off.

E. Remove Integration

Use this option to remove the accounting integration. Contact Blackpurl Support before taking this step to discuss the implications.

F. Apply Settings

Saves your settings and moves you to the next item in Accounting Integration — Step 2: Chart of Accounts.
