This article explains how to set up Payroll Clocking and Job Clocking in Blackpurl, including how to add staff members to Time Clocking Staff and how to give Technicians the ability to pause their job clocking sessions. For a conceptual overview of these features, see Payroll Clocking and Job Clocking Explained.
Setup for Payroll Clocking and Job Clocking
To set up both Payroll Clocking and Job Clocking, follow these steps:
From the Blackpurl header, click the Profile icon, then click Settings. Note that each user's Profile icon is unique to their account.
From the System Settings Dashboard, click the Users tile.
On the Users page, select the Time Clocking Staff tab. Both Payroll Clocking and Job Clocking are configured from this tab.
To add a new staff member, complete the following fields:
First Name
Last Name
If this staff member is a Technician, enable the Technician toggle. This tells the system that Job Clocking is required for this staff member.
Click ADD.
If you marked the staff member as a Technician, a configuration screen appears. Fill in the relevant fields to set their labor cost and work schedule, then click SAVE.
Tip: This screen is also where you record leave (days off) for the Technician — click + Log leave to do so.Once added, the new staff member appears in the Staff member list at the bottom of the screen.
Setup: Allow Pause of Job Clocking
If you want to give Technicians the ability to pause their Job Clocking without fully clocking off a job, you need to enable the pause setting in System Settings. Navigate to Settings & Control > Shop Settings and enable Allow pause of job clocking.
Enabling this setting has the following effects:
Technicians can pause their Job Clocking session without clocking off the job entirely.
Paused time is factored into the actual hours logged on a job and the related accounting entries.
All Technician Hour reporting includes paused time.
