A part stock adjustment lets you correct the Stock on Hand quantity on a part record in Blackpurl — whether you've found unrecorded stock or need to write off missing or stolen parts. If you have accounting integration enabled, both increases and decreases will post a transaction to your accounting package.
When to Use a Part Stock Adjustment
Common scenarios where a part stock adjustment is needed:
You find parts at the back of the dealership that were never entered into stock and want Blackpurl to reflect the correct quantity on hand.
A part has been stolen or gone missing and you need to reduce the quantity shown in Blackpurl to match what's physically on hand.
How to Complete a Part Stock Adjustment
1. Navigate to the relevant part record, then click Cost Tracking. This is the section where you will complete the stock adjustment.
2. Click Actions to expand the options menu, then select Adjust In-Stock.
3. The Adjust In Stock Quantity window opens. Click the I Want To dropdown to view your options.
Option 1: Increase Stock on Hand
Select Increase from the I Want To dropdown. Tab to the In Stock By field and type the quantity you want to add to the current Stock on Hand. For example, if you found 2 units of a part, enter 2.
Tab to the cost price field if you need to update the cost price, or leave it as-is. When you're ready:
1. Click Preview to review the adjustment before it is applied.
2. If the adjustment looks correct, click Apply to save the change.
Option 2: Decrease Stock on Hand
Select Decrease from the I Want To dropdown. Tab to the In Stock By field and type the quantity you want to remove from the current Stock on Hand. For example, if 1 unit has gone missing, enter 1.
1. Click Preview to review the adjustment before it is applied.
2. If the adjustment looks correct, click Apply to save the change.
Once applied, the stock adjustment is complete and the part record will reflect the updated Stock on Hand quantity.
